It is the love for dancing that prompted Mr Tai Han Kwang and his wife, Ms Ong Long, to venture into dancewear manufacturing and retailing in 1982. Back then, Ms Ong was a ballet dancer. Her passion soon led her to teach ballet, which she still does with zest till today.

Ms Ong’s contribution is invaluable to Sonata Dancewear; her knowledge and ideas in this field enable her to design and provide dancewear that dancers truly want and need. She also ensures that these skills and knowledge are transferred to the company through training programmes for both retail and manufacturing staff. Today with a group of experts behind the company, Sonata takes pride in being an all-round outfitting partner to the dance community and dance students. 

In Singapore, Sonata distributes our dancewear through our own retail stores throughout the island, as well as through music and art schools and other retailers. We also export our dancewear to Malaysia, Thailand, China and other countries.
